Progress of the Project

Samsun City Library project, being constructed by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality in Atakum district, has reached a physical completion rate of 38%. The project is built on a 5,200 square meter land and will have a total closed area of 27,570 square meters. It is planned to have 10 floors, including 3 basement floors, 1 ground floor, 5 normal floors, and 1 technical floor.

When completed, the library will have 1,098 seating areas and a capacity of 525,000 books. It will house various functional units such as bookshelves, free work areas, meeting and seminar rooms, children’s library, exhibition halls, activity workshops, individual and group work areas, media display areas, hobby areas, research center, reading room for visually impaired individuals, cafe, restaurant, and garden activity areas.

The rough construction of the project has been completed, and currently, exterior cladding works are in progress. The project has also received international recognition by winning the “Best Public Building Architecture in Europe” award at the 2023 International Property Awards competition held in London, UK.
